Lakes Environmental Association

Caplan Events Calendar

Lakes Environmental Association offers outreach education programs throughout the year. The goal of our education series is to encourage a connection to place through explorations of the natural world. We believe that with a strong connection to place an interest in watershed stewardship naturally follows.

All events are free to LEA members, except where special program costs apply. To become a member, click here. There is a $5 fee for non-members per each program. We encourage you to let us know you will attend by calling 647-8580, though pre-registration is not required. Programs are subject to change due to weather and minimum participation.

Guided walks and natural history presentations are part of the Caplan Family Environmental Education Series at LEA. This series is made possible through the generous support of Hu and Ray Caplan and their family.  Dr. and Mrs. Caplan have been members and directors of LEA since the mid-1970’s.  Dr. Caplan was the vice president of LEA’s Board of Directors from 1978-1980 and president from 1982-1990.  Mrs. Caplan was the secretary from 1992-2006.  The Caplans recognize the vital importance of education in all aspects of LEA’s work in protecting the Lake Region’s most important resource and asset: its bodies of water and watersheds.
